Kisii county residents have been urged to be aware of some people who use politician and leader’s names to con them money.

Addressing residents on Sunday during the burial ceremony of elder David Onkware at Giachere in Nyaribari Chache, James Kenani who is eyeing for Nyaribari Chache seat cautioned residents by challenging them to be aware of some conmen who call people asking for  some cash more so when somebody has died in the area.

“There are some people who are using politicians names to ask for  money from people more so during funeral arrangements, I  would like you to be aware of them since they are conmen," said for.

In addition, he said that during the arrangements for the burial of Mzee Onkware some conman called people by identifying themselves as politicians who asked them for some support.

Kenani said that one of the conmen called some individuals  who live in the USA by identifying themselves as Kenani  and they were given Sh50,000 for funeral arrangements.

“We need to be aware of this people since they have gone beyond misusing our names in favor of getting money, we have reported the matter to the police and whoever has any information concerning this should help us,” said Kenani.
