Speaking to journalists in Kisumu on Monday, Ranguma said that he is a registered and a dedicated member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party which all the aspirants for the seat want to use to run on in 2017 poll.

"I cannot form a secret party since a party is only registered by the national government and the process is a very transparent one," said Ranguma as quoted by Nation.

According to Ranguma, those peddling lies about his commitment in the Orange party have sensed defeat sand are only trying to engage in smear campaigns.

"There is no threat. The people peddling these rumors are those seeking to taint the name of Ranguma as an outsider to ODM," the governor added.

Nyong'o has been a serious critic of Ranguma and has said that he is the man to restore sanity in the city county.

Ranguma however insists that he will give the veteran politician a run for his money as he believes that Nyong'o does not have what it takes to manage the county.
