Speaking at his office on Tuesday morning, Motari said that there has been delay in the remittance of salaries and called on the county workers to stop creating a non-existent crisis.

Motari said that it is normal for government salaries to sometimes delay even for a week and wondered why the workers union was issuing strike ultimatums.

“Anybody who works for government will tell you that it is very normal for salaries to be delayed. Who does not know the bureaucracy in government? The workers should be patient, they have to receive their pay by February 5,” said Motari.

Motari said that the workers union should have sought an explanation from the county government on why the salaries were not paid on the date they are used to, instead of issuing ultimatums.

“You cannot just start issuing notices simply because the salary has delayed for two or three days,” said Motari.

On Monday, the Nakuru County workers union gave the county government up to Monday next week (February 9, 2015) to release their January salaries failure to which they threatened to down their tools.

They accused the county government of deliberately delaying their salaries.
