Nairobi Senator Mike “Sonko” has warned Deputy President William Ruto of power brokers who he said are misleading the DP over the Nairobi gubernatorial race.
Speaking in Reresik village in Ainamoi constituency, Sonko said Ruto is surrounded by political conmen who are misleading him and will negatively impact his presidential ambitions in 2022.
"The deputy president is surrounded by political brokers and conmen who have misled him into believing that if I become the Nairobi governor I will derail his 2022 presidential bid by discouraging Mt Kenya region from supporting him," Sonko said.
Governor Paul Chepkwony and Ainamoi Member of Parliament, Benjamin Langat accompanied Sonko who assured the Rift Valley people that he would support the DP in 2022.
"Let us understand each other. I will go across the country to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election and I will do the same for Deputy President to take over the country's reins in the 2022 general election and afterwards, I will also vie for the presidency," he said.
Sonko added that Nairobi residents have already decided who would bundle Evans Kidero from the city’s top seat and urged the DP's advisers to advise him accordingly on who has the capacity to succeed Kidero.
