Outspoken Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta to avoid underestimating Cord leader Raila Odinga ahead of the 2017 elections saying he (Raila) can pull a surprise and win the presidency.
Kuria was commenting on the countless number of times the former Prime Minister has been underrated by their rivals from the ruling Jubilee coalition as being unable to defeat them in the forthcoming poll.
"The elections can be won by two people - Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. It is a close race that is yet to be won. We must be careful when dealing with Raila and prepare adequately," Kuria said in Nairobi.
Kuria challenged the members in the ruling coalition to give their all to market the yet to be launched Jubilee Party to ensure that they gift the president his second term in office come 2017.
"The opposition leaders are also campaigning and are going to form coalitions. There is need to ensure that we are ready for the polls because it will not be straightforward," he added.
He added that Uhuru Kenyatta is the best person to be entrusted with the country's leadership and that he should be given a second term to complete his development initiatives.
