Nakuru County Agriculture Executive Stanley Chepkwony has asked farmers to be wary of individuals and supplies allegedly selling fake seeds.
Briefing the press at his office on Monday, the executive alleged that some suppliers are selling fake seeds.
He said that farmers should buy seeds that have been certified by the Kenya Seeds Company and other approved state agencies.
“Farmers across Nakuru should be wary of individuals selling fake seeds and other farm inputs,” said Chepkwony.
The executive however said that investigations have been launched in order to arrest individuals involved in the alleged scam.
On the same note, Chepkwony has advised farmers to prepare the farms early in preparation of the planting season.
Chepkwony said that that though rains have delayed, farmers should start preparing adding that the county will offer farmers with free seeds and fertilizer.
He further said that the county has initiated programmes where farmers will be educated on proper farming methods.
The executive said that the county is keen to boost food production in the county to curb hunger and starvation.
