Speaking on Monday during budget validation at Nakuru Old Town Hall, Nakuru East Sub-county Administrator Zack Njeru said the budget process is key to development and therefore citizens should take it serious.

The administrator lamented that most citizens do not turn up for budget process in wards hence most projects are decided by only the few who turn up.

"The constitution has given power to mwananchi and thus you have to use that opportunity and participate in budgeting process to ensure development," he said.

Meanwhile, he called on residents to make sure they pay tax to enable the government serve them properly.

"If you want the government to serve you properly then you have no otherwise but pay tax," he added.

Njeru's sentiments were echoed by Flamingo Ward MCA Moses Gichangi who asked residents to be patriotic and pay tax.

The forum was also attended by Nakuru County Assembly Deputy Speaker James Tuwei, MCAs and members of the public from the Nakuru East and West sub counties.
