Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has predicted Raila Odinga’s victory in 2017 and urged his critics to be ready for ‘much awaited’ leadership and the stewardship of the veteran politician.
Mr Odinga is poised to try his forth luck in the top seat after previous three unsuccessful attempts with the closest one being in 2007 when he narrowly lost to retired President Mwai Kibaki in an election that resulted in post-election violence.
Speaking at Gusii stadium on Saturday, the city Governor maintained that he will bankroll Odinga’s campaigns and urged Kenyans to vote for change.
“I have been in politics for a while and the mood is clear that Kenyans are tired of Jubilee leadership. It has ruined our economy and time has come for us to vote for real change,” he said.
“It’s clear that Raila has an upper hand and even his critics should be ready for his presidency because it’s a reality. Personally, I will bankroll party activities because this is a serious contest and we will not sleep and watch Kenya dying in the hands of Jubilee,” he said.
Kidero’s remarks were backed by host Governor James Ongwae (Kisii) and John Nyagarama (Nyamira) who also vowed to support the ODM party activities ahead of 2017 elections.
