President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on politicians to accept the decisions that will be made by voters in next year's general election.
Speaking at the Mombasa Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Sunday, President Kenyatta urged political leaders to focus on selling their policies to Kenyans peacefully, and leave the decision of choosing suitable leaders to them.
“We should all campaign and sell our manifesto to Kenyans and let them decide who they want, and when they do so, we should respect their decision,” said Uhuru.
“There are times when as leaders we will differ in our political stand but at the end of the day we are all Kenyans,” he added.
The president further urged Coast residents to shun divisions along religious, tribal and political lines, adding that the region needs to embrace peace and unity for it to realise its full development potential.
“We will be able to achieve a lot if we respect each other, and live together harmoniously. Everyone should be ready to help one another without considering their tribe, religion or place of origin. Your neighbour is your brother,” said Kenyatta.
The president said the government is committed to unite the country and ensure development is realised across the board.
