Mutambo said he does not support the increment on grounds that it is very impossible arguing that the teachers ought to have been credible and considerate in their pay demands.

"We will continue fighting for teachers, but be reasonable while putting your demands, do not be political,” said MP Mutambo.

Addressing press in Athi River town on Friday where he was hosted by Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau, Mutambo said that though he supports teachers to be added salary by the national government, the 300% increment demand is not realistic.

"Demand realistically, 300% salary increment is not there. Ask what is possible, not what is not there," advised Mutambo.

He said the figures were extremely impossible since there were many other civil servants such as police officers who were equally poorly paid hence needed their salaries reviewed.

"Teachers cannot demand 19 billion shillings because they are not the only civil servants in Kenya, they should be considerate not to be that selfish," said Mutambo.
