Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent public remarks that he said carried emotion rather than issues.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Atwoli cautioned the president against going out to Kenyans while not sober, adding that this would dent his image among voters and make them change their support for him.

The Cotu leader said that Uhuru's emotional outbursts would be costly in the end and make him lose part of his followers.

"The way he is addressing the public, he appears not sobber. He should be himself," Atwoli said.

"I'm appealing to His Excellency the President to be a little bit sober. Sober up! The way he is addressing the public he appears not sober," the Cotu boss continued.

Atwoli argued that the president should give due peace to Kenyans who are not interested in politics and who merely want to vote.

"Some of us are not interested in politics but we should be given that due peace that we need as Kenyans. So I'm appealing to our president that he should not be emotional, he should not be irrational. He has no moral authority to fire and to lash at the judges," he added.
