President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned the opposition NASA protestors of severe consequences should they commit to destroying people's property.

He stressed that his government will take firm action on anyone who vandalises property or causes disorder that could lead to stalling of business operations.

"We are not going to watch as protesters stone our police stations or steal from Wanjiku in the name of demos. We are a government of rule of law and order and that must stand," he said.

His words come just days after acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i banned protests in Kisumu, Nairobi and Mombasa central business areas.

However, the opposition has insisted that Matiang'i's order is pointless and that they will constinue demonstrating as a way of exercising their constitutional rights.
