The three; Dennis Kirwa, Dan Nyamanga and Francis Orina were reportedly denied access to Nyakongo High School where the area Governor John Nyagarama was having a luncheon with other county leader.

According to the statement written by the association, the three were beaten and their items of work confiscated by the askaris and supporters of the Governor.

“As Journalists, we are shocked with the archaic and retrogressive incident which comes when the country is enjoying democratic space and freedom of press,” read the statement.

“We call upon Media Council of Kenya, Kenya Union of Journalists, and the Judiciary to investigate the incident and take relevant actions against the tormentors,” added the statement.

Even though the incident has received condemnation from area residents, the county government is yet to give its official stand.
