A section of leaders in Nakuru County have urged Cabinet secretary for Interior and coordination of the national government Joseph Ole Lenku and the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo to beef up security in all major towns in the country to arrest the worrying insecurity trend that has led to loss of lives and property.
The leaders who have strongly condemned the attack of travelers who were killed while in a bus heading to Nairobi from Mandera urged the duo to move in speed and arrest all the culprits who attacked innocent civilians and prosecute them.
Led by Nakuru Women Representative Mary Mbugua, the leaders have protested the government delay to bring down organised gunmen terrorising innocent Kenyans.
The legislator termed the killing of the 28 people in bus by suspected Al-Shabab gunmen as an act of cowardice, urging the national security organ to reorganize security department to stop such senseless massacre of innocent citizens.
Mbugua said the government should extend disarmament exercise countrywide and mop up all illegal arms in the hands of civilians.
She said the country was nursing grief after the murder of 21 police officers by bandits at Kapedo, saying Kenyans should rise up and claim back the lost security glory in the country.
“We are asking those in possession of illegal firearms to surrender them to the government without further delay, and security to be improved so that we do not see such acts of Kenyans losing lives day after day,” said Mbugua.
She urged leaders from various communities to urge youths to return firearms before the government catches up with them.
Molo Mp Jacob Macharia while addressing resident at Elburgon urged the inspector general to take a personal responsibility and resign for the increased bloodbath in different parts of the country.
