The government has been challenged to move swiftly and ensure there is enough security in all learning institutions across the country, to avert terror attacks as was the case in the Garissa University College.
Kisii County Chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association Jairus Onchoke and his Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association counterpart Samson Mokwang'a have asked the Government to desist from issuing ultimatums to terrorists, and instead take precautionary measures to ensure children in all learning institutions are provided with enough security.
Speaking to the press in Kisii town on Monday ahead of the arrival of twelve bodies of students who lost their lives during the Garrissa University terror attack, Onchoke regretted that laxity of security in learning institutions had led to the loss of innocent young people who represented the country's future.
“As parents and teachers take this opportunity to condole with families and parents whose children lost their lives in the hands of terrorists at the Garissa terror attack, we call on the government to swiftly move to secure all learning institutions across the country to assure learners and tutors of their security,” stated Onchoke.
He furhter challenged the government to come out clear on the fate of the lecturers and students of the closed Garissa University College, to avoid public anxiety and uncertainty.
