The Abagusii Council of Elders (ACE) have urged the government to beef up security in all learning institutions and in public gatherings.

 Speaking to this reporter on Friday Abagusii Council of Elders chairman James Matundura, said the move will hep to avert terrorist attacks.

Matundra condemned the recent terrorist attack at Garissa University which left 148 students dead.

 He however, hailed the government for its efforts in the fight against terror attacks in the country. 

“As Abagusii Council of Elders we condemn the Garissa massacre that claimed lives of innocent Kenyans. We are urging the government to put surveillance in our universities and other gatherings, to ensure that citizens are safe from any attack," suggested Matundura.

 Mary Kemunto, a member in the council, alleged that some Kenyan youths are enrolling in the outlawed Al Shabaab group.

She urged the government to conduct a through crackdown to arrest the suspects. 

“It is sad that some Kenyans are joining Al Shabaab terrorists. I want to urge young people not to join such groups; they can look for something else to do,” said Kemunto.
