Daraja Mbili market traders have called on the county government to beef up security in the market following rampant cases of insecurity.
According to Daraja Mbili Traders Association chairman Elijah Mogere residents have been being attacked by gangs on their way home.
“In the last few days we have seen many shops broken into. We are therefore calling upon the government to help us beef security so that we can run our business smoothly,” said Mogere.
In a meeting by the market leaders business community cried foul over security lapses in the town.
They alleged that security agents declined to attend the meeting yet they were invited.
Mogere noted that M-pesa shops had lately become soft targets for criminals who break roof tops to gain access.
Daraja Mbili is the second largest market in Southern Nyanza and attracts traders from all the sides of the country.
