Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has begun distributing Senator Keg pumps in Kisumu ahead of the opening of its Senator Keg brewery later in June.
On Monday officials from the brewer including the company's head of Sustainable Agriculture Sourcing Kasidhi Omondi, head of Sustainability Jean Kiarie Ngumo and Vincent Okuto, the KBL Trade Marketing Representative demonstrated how to operate the Keg pumps to Kisumu County Executive member for Trade Alice Moraa and other prospective sellers of the low priced beer.
This was during a visit to the KBL brewery in Kisumu town where selected dealers received pumps that will be distributed to over 5,000 Senator Keg retailers in the Western region. The Sh15 billion brewery is scheduled to begin operations in June this year.
Speaking recently during a status update of the project in Kisumu recently, KBL Managing Director Jane Kariuku said the new plant will provide an expanded market opportunity mainly for sorghum farmers in Nyanza and Western region.
She said the plant will heavily be relying on sorghum among other raw materials sourced from locals.
"We have made a lot of progress at the new brewery site and we are delighted at the progress. We look forward to completing the construction works on schedule," she said.
