Members of parliament from Kisii and Nyamira Counties have been challenged fto give priority to school in order to improve the education standards.
According to the parents who accused the Mps of misusing constituency funds in the name of purchasing school bus rather than helping the schools with the necessary learning materials.
Bosire Mokaya a parent from a school in Gesima ward Nyamira County said that it will be quite useless for the school to have a bus while the school infrastructures are wanting.
“Am not saying that Mps donating school bus to our schools is wrong but I would like them to first help the schools with the basic necessities which will help in boosting education,” said Bosire.
Duncan Nyanumbo also said that most public schools need to be improved since most of them they lack libraries, laboratories which should be addressed before the bus is brought to the school.
“The Mps are mandated to help the schools since the functions are not devolved, so we urge them to have measures in place as one away for improving the education standards,” said Nyanumbo.
