The Belgian government has lauded Kenya’s decentralisation of services through devolution saying it will enhance service delivery.
Speaking during the country’s King’s day celebrations at the Belgian Embassy on Wednesday, Belgian Ambassador to Kenya Roxanne De Bilderling said that they have started various development programmes to boost development with the Kenyan government.
The ambassador added that devolution will curb conflicts and differences that are related to resource distribution.
She pledged to work with Kiambu government and other counties across the country to boost development and eradicate poverty.
The ambassador observed that the Belgian government enjoys cordial relationships with Kenya adding that both countries are working to boost the lives of their citizens.
“We are closely working with Kenya so that we can boost and improve the lives of our citizens,” she said.
The ambassador lauded various development initiatives the Kenyan government has started saying they will help curb poverty.
She observed poverty and unemployment among the youths remains the key hindrance to realization of development goals.
The official also lauded the country for adopting county governance system saying it will help reach to people at the grass root levels.
Speaking at the event, Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi said that Kenya will continue to work with other countries for development purposes.
He asked the Kiambu County to link up with other countries and seek funds to initiate development projects for the people.
