Slightly a day after Nyamira County boss John Nyagarama reportedly endorsed Borabu MP Ben Momanyi to be his successor, the legislator has 'politely' rejected the offer.
With at least four years to 2022 elections, high profile politicians have juxtapositioned themselves to succeed the ODM governor.
But in an interview, Momanyi said: "I have been elected wice at the grassroots and it is unfair for people to think I am desperate for Nyagarama's support."
The Wiper MP along with ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire and deputy governor Amos Nyaribo have emerged as early favourites to clinch the seat.
Having served the larger Borabu, Momayi says, his networking will play key during his 2022 campaigns.
"If people think I need Nyagarama, then I am not in need of that support. I have ways of maneuvering in local politics," he added.
While 2022 race is shaping in the South Nyanzan County, Nyagarama is however facing an appeal over his August victory launched by seasoned politician Walter Nyambati.
