Bursary applicants in Kibra Constituency are thoroughly vetted before and after the disbursement of the funds.

Unlike in other constituencies, the funds are only released after a thorough evaluation process.

After being given the funds, the beneficiaries still undergo an evaluation at the end of the year.

Their report cards of the three terms are scrutinised to ascertain their performance.

The exercise is conducted by the CDF committee, while the students are accompanied by their parents to the vetting.

The vetting is also attended by area Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.

"We do not want to waste money on students who are not working hard in school. We want all students being awarded bursaries to work hard because that is the reason they are in school. We know they can also drop in class performance but we allow them to explain why they have dropped. This is the only way we will push them to work harder,” said the constituency liaison person Vincent Ayako on Tuesday.
