Addressing the public in Athi River town during the launch of Uwezo Fund in Mavoko Constituency on Saturday, the area Deputy County Commissioner, Makori Kodeck, said the objective of the funds needed to be realized.

Kodeck said that the government's intention to improve livelihoods through provision of funds such as Uwezo, Women, Youth, Orphans and Cash transfers to the elderly needed to be appreciated by their beneficiaries by respecting and abiding by all terms and conditions of the funds.

He told the beneficiaries to stick to the proposals they submitted to respective offices requesting for the fund so as to be able to meet the stated needs.

“All the beneficiaries of these funds should refrain from changing their minds once they receive the funds ending up utilizing the money for irrelevant projects,” said Kodeck.

Kodeck noted that some of the beneficiaries in the past have made history by using the public fund meant for doing viable businesses to have fun ending up living miserable lives than before once it is all consumed.

He reminded the beneficiaries that all money received must be accounted for and refunded according to funds' legal provision and agreements with relevant bodies.

The commissioner warned that those who would attempt to default thereby go against the funds' terms and conditions would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly by relevant legislation.
