Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua on February 29, 2016, said that he was holding talks with ministers for public service and ministers for health and finance to review salaries for medical personnel in Machakos county.
He said his government is committed to providing better healthcare to the people of Machakos. Well, as far as service delivery in the health sector is concerned, there is a lot more work to be done.
Patients at Athi river health centre wait for ridiculously longer time to get healthcare services. The process that a patient goes through to get drugs or an injection is torturous and annoying.
They are made to wait for hours and hours and many end up losing hope and going back un-attended to.
Better pay and remuneration should go hand in hand with better quality service delivery.
The governor should first clean the mess before adding salaries to medical personnel in the county.
He should also make sure that health centres are equipped with enough drugs.
