Former Assistant minister Betty Tett has joined the race for the Lamu West parliamentary seat in the upcoming August 8 general election.
Tett, who will be running on the Democratic Party Congress ticket, is seeking to oust the incumbent, Julius Ndegwa of Safina Party.Others in the race are; ODM's Rishad Amana, Jubilee Party's Abdul Kassim and Stanley Muthama of Maendeleo Chap Chap.On Saturday, Tett said she will use her vast experience in leadership to bring about change in the county.Her priorities, if elected, will be championing the fight against drug abuse as well as create jobs for Lamu youth among other issues.“I’m a scholar and I have many years of experience in leadership. I have also worked for NGOs, helping the less privileged in society. My plan is to use all my experience to change all that,” she said as quoted by The Star.
