Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has warned Nairobi residents and Kenyans at large of a new digital fraud

According to Governor Sonko, the group operates as 'Sonko Rescue Team'. 

Mr. Sonko said the group has been making a lot of money from the unsuspecting Kenyans 

Governor Sonko said that the conmen and women operate a website and a Facebook page, that is similar to his, which is sponsored to reach more followers.

 The suspects do lift photos from his Facebook page to use in their con game, making it hard for Kenyans to unravel their tricks 

“I wish to take this opportunity to warn Kenyans to watch out and never to send any money to these conmen. In any case, you are approached, please report to the police or CID or to my office for quick action,

“My official name is Mike Sonko. Facebook page is verified with a blue tick and has over 1,300,000 Likes/Followers,” said Sonko on his Facebook page.

The Governor also said that that the group has been claiming that through Equity Bank and Safaricom, registered members can borrow from Sh1, 000 up to Sh50, 000 maximum.

Mr. Sonko said the group uses M-Pesa registered number 0715721394, with Miss Mercilian as their recruiting officer.
