Witeithie ward representative Peter Muiruri has raised an alarm over fake birth certificates being issued to parents in the area.
Muiruri said there were people producing forged certificates to unsuspecting parents at a fee.
“I am aware of the fake certificates circulating in the ward and I have instructed the sub-county administrator to help me get the culprits who are doing this,” Muiruri said during the chief’s baraza on Sunday.
“Anyone who will be caught in possession of a forged of fake certificate will face the law, be it a student or a parent.”
He wondered why parents were shying away from using the chief’s office to get the documents yet the process of applying for them had been made easy.
He added that birth certificates will be a compulsory requirement in any county offer, especially jobs.
He was accompanied by Witeithie location assistant chief James Nyoike, who complained that some residents were frustrating the Nyumba Kumi initiative as they do not want to give out their names.
