The county minister in charge of planning, Vincent Kodera, warned that there is a group going round collecting millions of shillings as bribes from contractors while claiming to be in a position to influence the issuance of tenders.

''I want to warn Kisumu residents there are cartels in the streets claiming they work with the county government and can therefore provide contracts and tenders,'' said the official.

Kodera told reporters that the Kisumu County government has clear cut structures to issue contract and tenders to contractors.

''We have offices in Prosperity House where (we) have all the documentation required to access a contract or work with the county plus the required qualifications,'' said Kodero.

He urged the contractors and investors to deal with the county government and stop engaging fake officials in the street.
