Speaking in Bosiango village in Gucha sub-county during an agricultural community meeting, the agriculture officer from Gucha South, Mr Geoffrey Ondigi said that the government has given the farmers an opportunity to acquire fertilizer which is subsidised in price so as to free them from people who sell toxic fertilizer to farmers.

Ondigi said that it has been known that some groups of people from the region have come with ways of stealing money by selling fertilizer which is not good to the soil, by this the farmers in the region have acquired big losses in productivity and intoxicating their soil.

He has urged the farmers to go for the government's subsidised fertilizer at a relatively cheaper price as compared to the highly expensive prices from the ‘thieves’ as he reffered to them.

He also urged the farmers to engage in cultivating crops that are drought resistant to avoid long time hunger in the region.
