A hearse transporting bhang along the Nairobi - Mombasa Highway has been nabbed by police on Monday morning.

The hearse is registered under the company name, Janam Funeral Services and was purporting to be carrying mourners from Kisumu to Mombasa.

The police, however, got wind of the matter and caught the hearse at Voi on Sunday afternoon.

Two bags of bhang were found in the vehicle but the owner of the merchandise managed to escape the scene.

The driver and conductor of the hearse were arrested and are currently at the Voi Police Station.

Mourners stated that they had no idea that they were ferrying the illegal substance.
