A man has been jailed for two years after he pledged guilty to a charge of for being in possession of narcotic drugs in a Thika court on Thursday.
Julias Kamuiru appeared before Thika Chief Magistrate's court and was charged that on October 4, at Kiganjo Estate of Thika Sub-County, he was found with ten rolls of bhang.
The prosecution told the court that the police were on patrol when they suspected the accused person and proceeded to search him where they found the narcotics and they arrested him on the said day.
The prosecution asked the court to give the accused the maximum jail term to set an example to those using and peddling bang in the streets
In mitigation, the accused said that he uses the bang to enable him work to get food for his family but asked the court to pardon him and he would try his best to stop smoking the illegal drug.
He was sentenced to two years in jail.
