Bibirioni Member of County Assembly (MCA), Anthony Macharia, has decried of rise in crime in his ward.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Macharia said cases of crime have gone up in the last three weeks.

The MCA alleged that a terror gangs have been terrorizing locals and robbing them of their belongings.

“We are urging the police to deal with rising cases of crime and assure residents of their safety,” said Macharia.

The MCA said the police must up their game and deal with high rate of crime in the area.

He added that it is the responsibility of the police to protect residents and their property.

Macharia observed crime is a hindrance to development stating that criminals should be dealt with.

The MCA said had ealier held consultations with other leaders on matters touching security and promised immediate action.

On Tuesday a body of a middle aged woman was found dumped at a thicket in Bibirioni.

The body was discovered by passerby who later alerted the police.

According to the police the 23 ­year ­old woman might have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped.

A police officer who declined to be mentioned for reasons that he is not allowed to speak to the media said investigations have been launched.

“We are probing the death of the woman and promise that the culprits will be arrested and charged in court,” he said.
