Dr Chris Bichage, a former Nyaribari Chache MP, endured a torrid moments when making his way to address a group of mourners at Bogitondo village in Kisii.

Bichage, who was area MP after 2013 elections before he was removed following a successful petition, launched by the current MP Richard Tong’i was accused by area residents of having discriminated them moments he was sworn in as area MP.

However on Wednesday, the angry residents could not spare the former MP to mourn one of his area campaign managers, Elias Ombati, who had succumbed to cancer and blocked main entrance to the home of the deceased forcing the MP to flee.

“We love our leaders but we cannot allow him (Bichage) to address us. His arrogance and discrimination was evident moments he was sworn in and he went ahead terming people from this area “dead and buried”. It’s therefore shocking that he wants to great people whom he tormented and that is unacceptable,” said Obare Matunda on behalf of angry mourners.

They demanded that the formers legislator performs a ritual as a way of apologising to area residents before they could think of ‘accepting’ him as one of their community leader.

“All we want to see is a ritual performed and totally sponsored by the MP as a way of showing remorse. We are particularly angry with the way he handled us few months he was in office and that particular utterance still haunts us,” he added.

Efforts to reach Mr. Bichage on phone were not fruitful since he could neither receive the calls nor respond to texts messages.

He is said to have made the aforementioned utterance when he was campaigning in the region during the 2013 by-elections.
