[Two agencies have partnered in a bid to adddress maternal mortality rates in Isiolo county.] (newvision.co.ug)Efforts to address runaway maternal deaths pandemic in Isiolo county on Thursday got a massive boost after two agencies agreed to partner in order to combat it.
UKaid and Christian Aid agencies agreed to contribute Ksh 3 million to give a facelift to nine health facilities in the county in order to reduce maternal mortality rate.
According to Abraham Mwangi of Anglican Development Services of Mt Kenya East which works under the auspices of the Chtistian Aid,the organisation has embarked on a refurbishments exercise for the said facilities in Isiolo,Garbattula and Merti sub counties.
He added that they also target Kipsing,Oldonyiro,Iresaburu,Modogashe and Baasa dispensaries all within the county.
Isiolo and other parts of the Northern Kenya counties are some of the worst hit by matetnal mortality rates that have beeb mostly attributed to poor health facilities and retrogressive cultural practices that undermine modern maternal exercises.
