Bidco Africa emerged victorious during the 2018 Energy Management awards in this year’s Kenya Association of manufacturer, KAM Energy Management Awards, EMA .
The company has saved over Sh102 million from energy projects for the last one year.
Bidco Africa was declared a winner following its good investment in energy technologies such as installation of LED lights at its manufacturing plants and being friendly to the environment.
The company uses 70 per cent of own produced energy from renewable sources and consumes only 30 per cent from the national grid but with time the company plans to stop depending on the national grid and implement a project to replace all the roofs at its Thika plant with 3,920 solar panels to produce 1.2 megawatts of power to run its operations.
“We are committed to produce products and offer services that people value in society and use few resources as well be environment friendly,” said the company’s director of operations Thiagarajan Vijayakumar.
Vijayakumar stated that the company plans to look for more effective energy management to benefit the company, its customers and the surrounding communities.
