The County Government of Uasin Gishu and AMPATH Plus Kenya have collaborated to launch the Population Health Delivery Model, a blueprint that seeks to better socio-economics of communities.

This collaboration comes to lengthen long histories that the County and AMPATH Plus have had in the past years.

The delivery model seeks to improve outcomes of health and social wellbeing by comprehensively addressing health determinants using a community-centered approach. 

The collaboration was reached at as Governor Jackson Mandago hosted for a courtesy call AMPATH Plus team led by Chief of Party, Prof. Sylvester Kimaiyo.

Governor Mandago said, “Uasin Gishu Government is committed to Universal Healthcare and we are more than willing to support the program and ensure its a success."

"We have started empowering the community towards income and food security through formation and strengthening of organized community groups which will form a platform for delivery of health promotion and prevention activities," added Prof Kimaiyo.

Mandago also said that his government's Department of Health has been able to work with the national insurer, NHIF, to have health facilities accredited to offer primary cover.

Prof Kimaiyo noted that AMPATH has increased the uptake of NHIF Supa Cover product, especially within the informal sector.

Governor Mandago also promised that his government will allocate monies to support the program.

"I urge you (AMPATH Plus) to establish proper ways of monitoring programs to ensure the public entirely benefit from such programs."
