All roads in Kisumu County will on Thursday lead to Gwara field in Ahero to celebrate this year's International Women's Day.
The day celebrated on March 8 every year is used to commemorate the movement for Women's rights.
While the first observance of a Women's Day was held on February 28, 1909 in New York, March 8 was suggested by the 1910 international women's conference to become an International Women's Day.
Kisumu County has invited residents from the county to gather in Gwara field in Ahero to celebrate this year's International Women's Day.
"A woman is one who walks on her own footsteps rather than following the direction shown by the crowd.
"This year International Women's Day #IWD2018 comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for Women's rights, equality and justice. Join @KisumuCountyKE as we commemorate this day at Gwara field in Ahero#IWD2018KSM," the county administration noted.
