Eight senior officials who served in Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama’s cabinet in his first term have been dropped from the new list of nominees.
Nyagarana, who narrowly won his second tenure, though subject to a court petition by close rival Walter Nyambati, had pledged to reconstitute his government afresh.
“This is the best I could give and I urge the assembly to pass the names so that we start working immediately,” he said, adding that he will work closely with the County Assembly.
In what could be his defense, he said:”We had a myriad of challenges and I had to deliver the promise. No one is secure and the lucky ones must work smart.”
Among the casualties in the surprise cabinet include Kepha Osoro, Peter Ogwara and Raila Odinga’s chief campaigner Jones Omwenga.
Only three, John Omwana, Glads Momanyi and Peris Oroko who managed to survive Nyagarama’s unprecedented axe.
Polycarp Maranga will serve in Lands, Douglas Bosire (Health), Samuel Maiko (Environment), Jackline Momanyi (Finance), Peter Omwansa (Trade), John Omwana (Transport), Peris Oroko (Agriculture), Johnstone Ndege (Public Service), Bernard Osumo (Gender) and Gladys Momanyi in Education.
