[Photo: Nairobi News]Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar’s entry into Jubilee seems to have unsettled some of Mombasa’s Jubilee bigwigs, including businessman Suleiman Shahbal, who now appear sidelined.Omar has even hinted that he would vie on a Jubilee Party ticket, if court nullifies Governor Ali Joho's win through a petition he has filed at High Court, Mombasa."We will agree with Suleiman Shabal who will fly the Jubilee flag in case the court nullifies Joho's win because we need to deliver this county (Mombasa)," Omar was quoted by the Nation on Sunday. While this may be a sweet tune to the ears of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, the same may not augur well with the likes of Shahbal who worked tirelessly in the run-up to August 8 elections to secure Uhuru a sizeable number of votes as compared to 2013 elections. At the look of things, Shabal has become a shadow of what he was some few days ago when he was the de facto Jubilee Spokesman at the coastal town. His arithmetic was even complicated when Jubilee appointed the Tourism CS Najib Balala to lead Jubilee campaigns in Mombasa and Coast region. It can only get tougher! The CS has brought in some new energy into the party's coast region campaigns bringing in a bunch of NASA defectors who include but not limited to Omar. For now, Shabal can only remain in the shadows, perhaps as long as Omar remains in Jubilee.
