Street families in Nairobi could soon have a place to lay their departed ones if parliament passes a proposed bill that seeks to see the establishment of a special cemetery.
The Nairobi City County Public Nuisance Bill 2016 has proposed the setting up of a burial site for the street families and if passed into law then the families will have reason to smile.
The Bill indicates that the burial sites will be for destitute people and adds that street families who die within Nairobi county will be maintained in a manner that does not threaten health in any way.
"An establishment of sufficient cemeteries and crematoriums for the burial of street children who die within Nairobi County is key. They are to be maintained in a manner that does not threaten health," reads part of the Bill.
It is also set to manage the aesthetic nature of the county with those found to light fires on streets, defacing the roadways with writings or engaging in outdoor advertising without following proper channels being fined.
