Kiragu, who was speaking during a road inspection tour in his constituency, yesterday said that the proposed law will also remove confusion that has been there about the national and county government roads.

"There has been a lot of laxity on the side of the county governments failing to own up to bad roads that are under them saying they belong to the national government," said Kiragu.

He added: "The bill will, therefore, outline which roads belong to which government."

The MP further added that once the bill is passed into law, all contractors constructing roads will be required to maintain those roads for the next five years.

"We have had cases where contractors do shoddy work to save money. But now the proposed law will scare away such people because it would mean that if they continue with the habit, they will end up spending more on maintenance than if they did a good work," he said.

He said that the national assembly committee on transport is in total support of the bill and urged everyone else to support it, saying it is the way to go.
