The billboards row in Mombasa is continuing to generate political heat with Governor Hassan Joho finding himself at the centre of the storm amid claims that he is using underhand tactics in his re-election bid.
Former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe has also come out to weigh in on the matter. The veteran Mombasa politician accused the county boss of frustrating his opponents in a bid to gain unfair advantage in the gubernatorial race.Speaking during an event held at the Mikindani Social Hall in Jomvu Constituency on Friday, Kajembe told off the ODM deputy party leader saying billboards will not translate into votes.Kajembe who is also the Kenya Ferry Service chairman said the Joho-led administration has become unpopular on the ground and no amount of publicity will redeem its 'tainted image.'While exuding confidence that Shahbal will win the seat despite Joho's 'harassment', the former MP said residents are yearning for change. On his part, Shahbal's running mate Ananiah Mwaboza accused the county chief of turning the county into a family business. He accused Joho of engaging in petty politics at the expense of development which he said has been ignored by the county leadership.
