In the run-up to the August 2017 General Elections, businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki was a household name in Uasin Gishu.

Buzeki expressed his interest in the county's Gubernatorial contest and gave the incumbent Jackson Mandago a run for his money.

The businessman was defeated during the Jubilee Party nominations but ditched the party and decided to vie as an independent candidate.

During the election on August 8, he was again defeated by Mandago and pledged to work with the Governor in ensuring effective service delivery to the people of Uasin Gishu.

After the defeat, Buzeki disappeared from the political scenes and rarely makes any public appearance or any contributions to national matters.

With Mandago set to leave office in 2022 after completing his two terms, Buzeki ought to have hit the ground running to popularise himself and sell his agenda to the residents in preparation for the next poll.

Starting his campaigns early will endear him to the residents and make him a force to reckon with in the 2022 General elections.

His silence should, however, worry his rivals as they are not sure what he is planning.

If Buzeki plays his cards well, he may just be the next Uasin Gishu Governor come 2022.
