The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town has received funding of Sh300 million from the World Bank to construct a Biosafety Level two-Laboratory (BSL 2 Public Health Laboratory) and an Ebola Isolation Ward.

MTRH Chief Executive Dr. Wilson Aruasa said that the project will be a state of art laboratory and will be one of its kind in East Africa.

"We are lucky to be the beneficiaries of this landmark project which will be a game changer," he said during handing over of the proposed site to the contractor, Tuesday.

"The project will be ready in 12 months time," added the MTRH CEO.

Dr. Aruasa further called upon the contractor to ensure good standards are maintained and deliver the project in good time.

"I call upon the contractor to ensure the best comes out by adhering to the stipulated guidelines where shoddy work will not be allowed. I am personally guided by own levels of quality and that is what we are focused on," he said.
