Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik has challenged Nakuru residents to enhance Nyumba Kumi initiative in a bid to flush out terrorists.
Birik said that the initiative is not a national issue, but a collective issue that needs the cooperation of residents.
“Residents should support the Nyumba Kumi initiative to reinforce security in the country,” said Birik.
Speaking on Tuesday at a press conference in Nakuru Town, Birik urged residents to be keen on security issues.
“Residents should be in forefront of reinforcing security to create a national stability. I want area residents to help in revealing those they suspect of being involved in terrorism so that the law can take its course,” added Birik.
He further noted that the recent Garissa attack could have been avoided if residents had taken the issues of security seriously.
“The terrorism menace facing our country can be averted if all residents take their responsibilities seriously by providing information of those they suspect of being criminals,” added the commissioner.
He however warned against those working in cahoots with terrorists that they would be dealt with in accordance with the law
