Maralal Catholic Diocese Bishop, Virgilio Pante, on Sunday asked political aspirants to be tolerant with each other in order not to divide Kenyans.

He asked them to hold peaceful campaigns and refrain from hate speech ahead of August general election.

Pante was speaking at Good Shepherd Seminary Secondary School in Maralal, when he received a bus donated by President Uhuru Kenyatta as a gift for the school's exemplary performance in last year’s KCSE examinations.

“The electorate knows those who have been in politics for development and service to humanity and those who have been in politics for their own interests,” said Pante.

He appealed to Kenyans to shun hatred and violence but instead embrace prayers for peaceful elections.

“Let us not go back to what we went through in 2007/2008 post-election violence. We fought with guns and knives and people lost their lives,” said Pante.
