Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir has challenged candidates eyeing various elective positions in the North Rift region to preach peace even as they hunt for votes.

Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Korir said peace was paramount for the region and the country as a whole to attain its development goals.

The Bishop, who has been instrumental in preaching peaceful coexistence in the region, further warned politicians against engaging in incitements and tribal politics that might cause divisions ahead of the August general elections.

"We are appealing for any leader in Uasin Gishu and the entire North Rift region to work together for peace during this electioneering period," noted Bishop Korir.

"Elections come and go but we will remain one people. Political differences must never be the reason for our region or country's instability," he added.

The Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop further asked Kenyans to allow candidates from any political outfit to freely sell their development agenda.

"We have so many parties and I appeal that let us listen to all of them and allow them to explain what development plans they have then make an informed decision," said Korir.
