Slightly two months to his death, Eldoret Diocese's Bishop Cornelius Korir had warned President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival Raila Odinga against castigating independent institutions.

The two leaders have been vocal against electoral body IEBC and the judiciary in a controversy over elections.

At an interview with KTN in September, Korir expressed his dissatisfaction withe the manner in which the two leaders were handling the institutions.

"The judiciary did her job by nullifying the elections and that should not be condemned. Uhuru should respect the verdict," he said in reference to Uhuru's attack on Chief Justice David Maraga.

He further said: " Odinga should also allow IEBC to conduct elections are directed by the Supreme Court."

His unprecedented demise on Monday is a big blow to the country that is seemingly divided due to complex electoral processes.

Both NASA and Jubilee are embroiled in a war of words following declaration of Uhuru as winner of October elections which were boycotted by Odinga.
