The Anglican Church Diocese of Eldoret has asked the government to revoke driver licenses from careless drivers this Christmas season.
Speaking at St Mathew's ACK church in Eldoret during the Christmas celebration, Dr Christopher Ruto said that impounding the licenses is the only way to resolve the accident problems on Kenyan roads.
In his message on Sunday, President Uhuru Kenyatta reiterated his plea to drivers asking them to be cautious while driving this Christmas season saying that Kenyans’ lives are precious.
A day later, the Anglican Church of Kenya, Eldoret Diocese’s Bishop Christopher Ruto, has urged the government to revoke driver licenses from reckless drivers.
“Many lives are being lost and many families continue to be orphaned due to untimely deaths on our roads which are caused by careless drivers. I am kindly asking anyone who boards public and also private vehicles not to be silent whenever they board vehicles that are driven carelessly,” stated the Bishop.
Within the last three weeks close to 200 lives have been lost on Kenyan roads especially at the Salgaa Sachang’wan notorious black spots.
It has been an issue that has created concern to many Kenyans consequently prompting the National Transport Service Authority (NTSA) to crackdown on traffic law offenders in different parts of the country randomly.
