Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir has urged the Government through the Ministry of Education to consult head teachers and parents before releasing the new school fees guidelines.
Bishop Korir said that the fee structure guideline that was recently released by the Ministry of Education was going to affect the standards and quality of education.
"This is going to affect the school's infrastructure and also will go to the extent of lowering the quality of education since the Ministry of Education is not providing enough cash to meet all these needs," said Korir.
He spoke during prize giving day at Sing'ore Girls Secondary School, where he also asked the national government to ensure that it meets the School Boards of Management so that they can discuss in details issues concerning the new school fees guidelines.
"The government should go ahead and cater for all the infrastructures in the schools since the school boards are not going to charge any other extra fee to cater for such needs," Korir said.
He said it will be difficult for most schools to be able to hire more extra teachers to curb shortage.
